HOLY ‘BATHING’
As a teenager, we used to live on the upper floor of a
tenement building (face-me-i-face-you) which had the toilets and bathrooms at the
back , sharing fence with the neighborhood’s primary school. For many weekends
(whilst we lived there), I had ‘private’ view of a dirty depraved-looking old
man who specialized in bathing women. God forbid bad thing! Mssstcheeeew!
Of course it was easy to decipher the situation (thanks to
Nollywood movies), the women had some troubles in their lives, consulted the
old man who prescribed ‘spiritual’ bathing/ cleansing amongst other things (perhaps
including carnal knowledge of them), they simply needed ‘Spiritual Renewal’,
but sadly chose the wrong source. Tufiakwa!
Today’s Sunday School features the biblical concept of
repentance, how it relates to Spiritual renewal, shows availability Christ’s
love to all who believe and encourages us to worship God in spirit and truth (2Chronicles
29:31)
It’s sad but not strange that even today certain ‘Christians’
and even some pastors seek power and spiritual renewal from the enemy, even
when they have a godly heritage. A replay
or blast from the past shows King Ahaz continuously living in defiance to God,
his nasty death and the early Succession by his ‘Christian’ & Spiritually
renewed Son , Hezekiah…evidence of flirting with sin and temptation. 2 Chron
28:1- 30:27
Repentance is a change of mind in our basic attitudes toward
God and Christ that results in turning away from our sinful life style towards
Jesus and live by faith in Him, because without Repentance, Spiritual Renewal
is impossible.
Do you want to be free, have peace, joy, worship God with a
pure heart, face life’s challenges undauntedly? Stop running from ‘pillar to
post’, God is not a respecter of persons… Take a decision like Hezekiah today,
let his revival stir fresh desires in our hearts for genuine spiritual renewal as
individuals and cleansing for this great country Nigeria.
Be empowered, Renewed. Get your ‘Holy Bath’ from Jesus Now!
looking at the bible text, i noticed something really strange...the father , king Ahaz was ungodly, while the son , Hezekiah was championing God's course. seemingly against normal trend. the important point here is that Hezekiah made up his mind to stand for God publicly. He went about cleaning the temple n all...Today we are the temple of God and so must cleanse ourselves in repentance and submission to Jesus
