SIN AND DELIVERANCE
MEMORY VERSE:
Hebrews 3:12. “take heed, brethren, lest there be in
any of you an evil heart of unbelief , in departing from the living
God”
FOCUS: To learn from Israel’s tragic cycle of sin and
hold firmly to our faith in Christ.
TEXTS: Judges 2: 6-23, Judges 3:7-10, Hebrews 3:12-14hold firmly to our faith in Christ.
Paul instructed us not to be proud and think we capable of falling (1 Cor. 10:12). This warning was punctuated by examples of the feelings of the Israelite's in the old testament. We must understand that Paul was not wanting us to live in fear of failing, but He did want us to be aware of the danger of taking our relationship with God for granted.
When tempted to sin, we can overcome it (verse 13). We can do so by holding firmly to our faith in Christ. This lesson teaches about Israel’s tragic cycle of sin presented in the book of judges. From the example, we learn of the DANGER of DISOBEDIENCE & the GRACE of God found through REPENTANCE.
LIFE APPLICATION:
Acknowledge the need for obedience to God to maintain a relationship with himAccept that deliverance through Christ can be obtained only by repentance
Confess the need of God’s grace and help daily
