#RELATIONSHIP ISSUES? -click here
Are you in the middle of a problem that borders on relationships? Spouses, In-laws, outlaws, bosses, colleagues, neighbours, national heads, church heads…name them.
This is a real life gist…”Felix (not real name) had a serious quarrel with his wife. He decided to leave the house before he’ll do something regrettable. Off he went to complain about his marriage to the Pastor, he couldn’t understand why he had issues. He had hardly come close to the Pastor’s door when he began to hear troubling noise from within. He entered to find out that his Pastor was having a heated argument with his wife. It dawned on him, no one was immune to problems afterall. He went home immediately to settle with his wife as Children of God.”
All human beings experience conflict of some kind, since Adam’s days (after the fall). The conflicts take root from man’s separation from God, which then affects all other relationships #whether you admit it or not#. The certainty of conflicts does not mean they cannot be managed or even resolved, particularly among Christian folks. The Holy Spirit can give believers the power to resolve conflicts consistent with the standards set forth in the word of God.
For instance, we ceaselessly complain about the corrupt practices of government and politicians, but considering the disunity & diminishing-love amongst Christians today, I dare say that if some of us get to that seat of Power we may not do any better. Should this be so? No!!!
Nehemiah lived a life of example, not just that, he didn’t keep quiet in the face of one Isrealite taking undue advantage over another (Nehemiah 5:1-19). The relationship between the government & the people is failing, hence unrest from disgruntled parties #child bride campaign, Biafra, boko haram, Niger delta, Arewa, OPC , ASUU etc#. What is your role as a Christian? What is your contribution to failing relationships between friends, colleagues in your office, subordinates, neighbours etc, even those who are plainly mischievous and evil? How do you live by example correcting personal & corporate failures?
James 2:8…you do well when you complete the Royal Rule of the scriptures ,‘Love others as you love yourself’
Note the bible didn’t say fight, nor carry placard, but it goes further in various instances & references teaching how we should stand for the truth in wisdom and Love. Every problem in any relationship can be healed. Even the dead ones can be resurrected. If we can love others even half of how we love ourselves, the world could be so much better to live in; but God is love. So getting God is about the starting point of Change.
When things go wrong in relationships, we must submit to the teachings of God’s Word. As we do, the Lord can help us make things right. Obedience to God and submission to His will are the keys to pleasing God. As we obey, we allow Him to work in situations we find ourselves. Then He is free to change hearts and bring about the needed reconciliation.
